ABS is a national, professional organization
of sociologists and social scientists, founded by women and men of African
descent. The organization's mission is to build a tradition of scholarship
that will serve Black people in perpetuity.
- Latino Section of American Sociological Society:
The Latino/a Sociology Section is an important and vital
component of the American Sociological Association (ASA). For the past
decade, the Latino/a Section has played an instrumental role in increasing
the presence and visibility of Latinos/a in the ASA and in the field
of sociology. Each year, the Section organizes a series of professional,
academic, and social/cultural activities to generate discussions about
the problems and issues impacting our community and to promote the contributions
and culture of the Latino/a population in the United States.
